The Together We Ride program supports at-risk youth in the Kimberley to develop life skills and reconnect to family, community, culture, and education interrupting the trajectory to the criminal justice system. Male youth aged 12-14 yrs. are engaged in an intensive, comprehensive mentorship program over the course of a year, including:

  • Individual daily and out of hours contact.
  • Support from skilled young Aboriginal mentors.
  • Healthy risk-taking group activities.
  • Strengthening family connections through facilitated shared activities.
  • Workshops supporting life promotion and social and emotional wellbeing.
  • On Country camps with an individual and holistic approach.

Together We Ride provides a proactive, strengths-based response to youth crime acknowledging disadvantage, trauma, family domestic violence and neglect and disconnection to family, culture, and community as causes of youth disengagement. This diversionary program will improve life and leadership skills, increase self-esteem, promote inclusion through team building activities, promote a sense of community and encourage positive family connections.
