Our Youth Services teams, ALIVE & Kicking Goals! and Together We Ride have both been announced as finalists for the 2023 WA Mental Health Awards.
“When you’re part of a team that delivers some tough, meaningful work that is invaluable, a lot of the time we can forget about ourselves and sometimes question the impact we’re having within our community and region. To find out that both programs are finalist in their nominated categories brings a feeling of recognition and a sense of achievement, it’s an added confirmation that we are on the right path. It also gives us a boost in motivation and a reminder that we do have unique programs with a unique model and have the team to drive a beneficial impact within our community and region for our young people, families, and culture”, says Kevin McKenzie, Youth Services Team Leader.
The Western Australian Mental Health Awards 2023 will celebrate individuals and organisations that made an outstanding contribution to mental health in the calendar year of 2022 (January-December 2022)
Together We Ride is a finalist for the ‘Innovation for Change Award’.
ALIVE & Kicking Goals! is a finalist for ‘Prevention or Promotion Award’.
These annual Awards recognise and reward the achievements of those who demonstrate excellence, innovation and initiative in supporting consumers of mental health services, their families and carers; and showcase best practice in WA’s mental health sector to inspire others.
The Awards are hosted by the Western Australian Association for Mental Health, with the support of the WA Mental Health Commission and Lotterywest.
The Awards aim to:
- Recognise and reward the achievements of those who demonstrate excellence, innovation and initiative in supporting carers and consumers of mental health or their local community (including workplaces)
- Showcase the achievements of the mental health sector in WA
- Inspire others to strive for excellence
- Promote positive messaging around mental health, breaking down stigma and starting conversations for healing and recovery
The AKG and TWR teams are passionate about empowering youth, walking alongside them and supporting them to improve their lives.
