Last month, Dijun Way played a crucial role in orchestrating the Ochre Ribbon March hosted by Aboriginal Family Legal Services (AFLS) in Broome. The team assisted with the organising, planning, and setup of the event, actively participated in various meetings, drawing on their community on-the-ground knowledge and connections. Additionally, using MOSAC social media platforms, Dijun Way promoted the event, amplifying its reach and impact.
On the day of the event, the team took part in the march and a couple of team members delivered powerful speeches. Sarani, Dijun Way’s youngest facilitator, delivered a speech outlining the importance of Primary Prevention, the effects of Family Domestic Violence (FDV) in our community, and that education around this issue is key. Nelson, the FDV team’s Cultural Guidance Worker, delivered a speech highlighting the significant issues in our communities and encouraged men to step up, call it out, and drive change to help stop the violence. Overall, a successful community event that we are proud to have played a key role in.
